Based on my research all the rooms at Canaves Suites have a plunge pool and during the days I’m looking in June they start at close to $1500 a night. At Katikies all except the Master Suite at Euro 2200 a night don’t have a pool and the Double Room starts at Euro 1000 a night. From a room perspective it seems like comparing apples to oranges.

On TA they get great ratings but we all know to take those with a grain of salt so I figured I would seek the forums advice to see if there are any recent reviews/comments about the hotel and how it compares to the usual recommendations on the Luxury forum for Santorini.

Thanks in advance!
I stayed at Andronis (not the boutique one) two years ago. 2x time in Santorini. The private jacuzzi was very nice and pretty private. Spacious room for entry level. Service was great and the breakfast was very high quality on your porch. The public infinity pool is OK and not as dramatic as others you'll see on the island. The lycabetus restauramt was decent but pricey as well. I wasn't a fan of the bathrooms personally. The real charm is Oia AFTER sunset when everyone has left. Great atmosphere in my opinion where the real charm of Oia comes out.

We stayed in a suite at Katikies last summer. Views and service are good, but there are too many rooms for the number of sunbeds by the pools. When we arrived there was no space at all, which is not OK when you are paying over 1000 Euros/night. People got up early to reserve the best sunbeds. For me Santorini was worth seeing once but I found it so unbelievably overloaded with tourists (in mid June) that I would probably not go back.

@ atojbk..Thank you very much for the details of your stay! So you stayed at the Andronis Luxury Suites then?

The jacuzzi and patio do look very private which is something that seems to be lacking at some properties I have looked at where the patio is used as a crossing path for a room behind or above you. When we stayed at Mystique we got lucky with the room (likely due to being an SPG Plat.) and ours was more private but there were some rooms where the jacuzzi was right in the open next to the the stairs other people used to get to their rooms.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves and if you are in this price range it really should not be an issue. It's also one of the main reasons I would only book a room with a private patio that has sunbeds on it.

We had a very nice terrace with sunbeds, but it still annoyed me that I could not be by the pool

Yes Luxury Suites. What month are you planning to go? We went in late May and we practically had the whole place to ourselves. Didn't see a single soul at the pool whenever we went for 3 days. Complimentary water/drink as given us to the pool as well even though it was dead empty. We used it after lunch after day after sightseeing when the sun was strongest.

Always wanted to go. Whats the best time of year to visit then (less crowds but still something happening)? May? September- October?

Its pretty crowded all the time except winter but nothing is open. I'd say October is best and still warm enough to swim. Water too cold in May, September is still very crowded. Possibly first two weeks of June could be nice as well.

1+ Mystique. Wife and I spent 4 nights at Mystique in June 2018 and loved our stay.
