We're going from the 18th to 22nd September, and have been looking at the Suite Life promo for the Peninsula.
When it just opened, i stayed at the gaansvoort for a week on the 8th floor and hated it. The next trip, I stayed at the FS on the 34th floor and loved it. if you're not snorting gaak, stay away from the gaansvoort on the weekends. total poser scene.

couldnt move because everything else was booked?

there were plenty of non-posers when i was there last summer, midweek. suite upgrade was nice. liked gpsa. plunge seemed good too, although 60 thompson and hudson's rooftop lounges are probably better. soho house's pool would be better, but its also lower. and while service wasnt anything special (although breakfast was terrible) the reviews of soho house seem to suggest service could be even worse if youre not a member. service isnt really the main attraction at these kinds of places anyway. another thing - the concierge is capable of getting you on guestlists. and a suite means guestlist at gpsa. Ws offer neither.
