Maldives - Taj Exotica or O&O Reethi Rah?
We are looking at 4 nights in December for either Taj Exotica or O&O Reethi Rah. Both options are for a beach villa with a pool. We like great beaches, snorkeling (no diving), food and a bit of luxury (i.e., good hard product). O&O is a bit pricier than Taj Exotica.
What would you guys recommend? Thanks!

O&O is one that really splits opinion. But the hard product is supposed to be excellent if that is of great importance.

I can't compare to Taj but my prior stay at O&O Maldives - I had no complaints whatsoever. Food excellent, room/beach villa was great. I'd rather do O&O Maldives over less cost if/when I return based on how much I enjoyed it especially compared to similar Bora Bora.

Never been to Reethi Rah or Taj Exotica but passed the latter one several times by speedboat on my way to/from Cocoa Island.
You have to be a true hardcore plane spotter to be able to enjoy that place being one of the closest resorts to Malé and the airport. Most rooms face the final approach path of Malé airport's most used landing direction into runway 36 with longhaul a/c flying by in relatively low altitude. Add regular boat traffic and low flying seaplanes to that.
Being an avgeek myself even I wouldn't like to spend my holidays there. I.e. Gili is much more bearable in that respect. And I assume you can also get a "decent" chance to watch the burning smoke plume rising from Thilafushi's open garbage burning from some of Taj's beach areas. Just based on these personal observations I would never spend a dime at Taj Exotic (and Velassaru btw).
A true paradise (and remote) feeling comes with resorts being much farther away from Malé.
