Do any luxury hotels use decent toilet paper?

Something I've noticed lately, $1200 a night for park hyatt NYC and i see the bathroom has the ol' 150 grit special. Cmon why can't you get decent toilet paper when paying 4 digits per night.

PH doesn't usually cut it , this forum anyway..

Stay at The Mark . They have the best so far in the city & 🇺🇸 AFAIK !

Some in U.K. & Europe , am trying to recall which hotels .
In Asia , a few too .

Perhaps for certain guests , " numbers of ply " are increased ??

Their Cottonelle is a joke at PH NY but they do have the latest TOTO washlets. I think that hotel is just grossly overpriced for NY.

Even places like MO HK don't use anything as soft as US 3 ply Charmin. I think it's not in the culture or local market consumer goods.

It's a plus when they have the bidet washet and dryer.

I know you shouldn't have to but if you rang housekeeping and asked for some decent toilet paper would they oblige? Or sandpaper it is?

It depends. Don’t think hotels have a huge selection of toilet paper on hand, there might be a differentiation between rooms and suites, not more though. Usually a brand standard is taken into account, plus local supplier (and customs / culture).

But (!), any decent hotel will go get something for a good guest if it is available. FS HK has run errands for me in the past and didn’t even charge.

Aventine said it best... PHNY is a big joke.

The answer to the OP's question is no and it totally drives me crazy. Why do all these fabulous hotels that charge hundreds or thousands of dollars a night use this Soviet quality toilet paper?

I suspect it is due to the trend towards recyling.

Cost effectiveness and for countries with less advanced plumbing and sewage systems - preventing blockages.

They could offer something akin to a pillow menu - from soft and smooth to extra rough.

Only one needed Charmin 3 ply.

I don't think anyone would be picking the sandpaper hard 1 ply tissue paper option.

Bring your own.

Travel tip: custom printed toilet paper can double as business cards.

Toilet Paper is Obsolete

What they should do is get Hand Bidet Sprayers. Washing is far cleaner than wiping and oh so kind to your behind. See bathroomsprayer.com.

Welcome to these forums, David. You are without doubt the most traveled member of this Forum. And obviously the most sanitary-aware!

After just being through Kyrgyzstan I was just grateful for a hole in the ground and a Waitrose anti-bacterial wipe.
