I love this hotel, but i'm too lazy to cross sides all the time and everything I come to HKG for is on the Hong Kong side.

All else being equal would people choose the Pen over the Rosewood, or vice versa?

If I plan to spend a significant amount of time in the hotel, probably Rosewood given its new hardware, view (subjective, some like the view from other locations), and benefits. It is far from the MTR compared to Pen, but if you are getting a taxi everywhere, this should not matter.

If I want to spend a significant portion of my time outside of the hotel and want a convenient home base, then I'd pick the Pen.

Cannot go wrong with either though!

I’d probably choose a Manor club room at the Rosewood. Yeah, the location could be better re public transit, but the walk isn’t too bad. The Manor club is also a nice place to relax in outside of the room. The lobby at the Pen is always so busy

Look at these rates though:

Peninsula - $2,680 + tax
  • Breakfast
  • $1,000 spending credit
Rosewood - $3,835 + tax (or $4,735 + tax for a club access room)
  • Breakfast
  • US$100 F&B credit
  • Upgrade
  • HK$500 K11 Musea Gift Voucher & KLUB 11 Gold Membership (not sure what KLUB is, obviously something to do with the K11 mall)
  • Festive room amenities
  • Set lunch or dinner at Holt's Cafe or Asaya
Which one has the better pool and spa?

There are special Rosewood room rates for $2,950++

And club rooms (and suites) have 3rd night free which brings the rates down if you're looking to do 3 nights or so.

I would also choose a room with Manor club access at the Rosewood. Stayed last year and had a phenomenal time and will be my first choice in Hong Kong unless I have to be on HK Island.

Only made it to the lobby so far (OK, it means I'm part of the problem) and found it terrible. Like a zoo.

As Yogi Berra said, it's so crowded nobody goes there anymore.
