More critically , finish the details well ! AmanYY deserves at least what has been done for earlier Amans , if not some later ones . N'oi had " some " issues in the beginning .. expected during soft opening but should not be the case after .

May clash with my Nemu , etc stays if towards late November / December .

Unsure if we want to grace the ' official ' opening

Perhaps do the usual of a year buffer to stay too .

They're offering discounts for the November period - I suspect it wil be a kind of soft opening as some things are delayed. At least we'll be able to stay, yay!

Called the central reservations line last night to ask about the opening for Yangyun. Basically, no new info. The guy said it will be this year, but they're not set on a date yet. They have something "proposed" and the management is reviewing it, but it is not finalized. So, they cannot offer any information at this time.

I'm not sure if this page was on the Aman website the last time I looked:

https://www.aman.com/resorts/aman-new-york

2020 opening, 2,000 sqm gym (with local membership option - Aman Club?), underground jazz bar, wraparround terrace, 20 residences topped off with a 5-story penthouse.

Looks like they put out some press today.

I noticed in in Bloomberg:

83 keys, floors 4-10, entry level 70 sq m (753 sq feet)... + 20 residences on higher floors.

3 story spa, plus various other amenities mentioned above.

Huge gym aspect is interesting, reminds me of Equinox hotel (which will be YP designed... who would have thought!).

Curious to see Gathy's approach for rooms. Wonder what the essence will be. Hope he won't bring too much Asian influence and stays clear of Yabu Pushelberg's 50 shades of grey mediocrity (PH NY/FS NY Downtown). Can't stand another Minotti showroom.

I'm hoping for good soundproofing because anything on the lower floors is going to get street noise.
3 story spa. Interesting in a poor spa market like NYC.

The swimming pool render doesn't look very Aman though.
Membership club? Similar to Lodhi?
The residences are going to break some sale records I think.

Being NYC based, this is definitely the part I’m looking forward to the most!

In contrary to scented, I am hoping for a lot of Asian influence: New York needs a pure, well designed, minimalistic luxury oasis without stuffy/trumpy bad-american-taste design!

Very happy that they announced a 25-meter-lap-pool. That's what every true luxury hotel needs! Only real lap pool option in NYC by now is Mandarin Oriental.
