Thanks, we'll only be in Monte Carlo for a day so it's not worth going further afield. It's an Azamara cruise, http://www.azamaraclubcruises.com/vi...027-1446350400

I don't
However the feedback I read and elsewhere is average.
Metrepole is definitely better

Hermitage is seaside, however, and has an ocean view and a beach club.

I'm surprised I don't see Vista Palace in this thread? It is a 5 star and has some of the best views of any hotel in the world. http://www.vistapalace.com/index.asp?lang=eng

Now if I put my critical hat on, this hotel is right out of the 60's design wise, and it's been years since I stayed there so I'm not sure how the infrastructure is holding up. But if it's just for one night, I would highly recommend it for the views alone. Unless you are afraid of heights that is.

P.S., I used to live between Nice and Cannes and know the area well if anyone has any questions.

KatW - the Hermitage is number 1 on TA! I haven't stayed but it is I think the Grande Dame hotel in Monte Carlo and for 1 night is in a slightly better position than the Metropole being slightly closer to the harbour. You may even see your boat from the room. I've only stayed in Monaco once and that was a few years ago at Le Meridien Beach with the kids in tow. Only hotel actually on the beach as far as I'm aware but I'm not suggesting it fits in this forum.

We've stayed at the metropole,in a junior suite,I'd highly recommend it.The bathroom iirc was nearly the size of a small room.
Easy walking distance to the area around cafe de Paris, the casino and that square, but a very hilly walk to the harbour/beach.
Yoshi is a fantastic in house Asian restaurant there too as is obviously the other international cuisine restaurant both by Joel Robuchon.
