In my opinion, having stayed at both Aman properties and Banyan Tree, the level of service at BT is nowhere NEAR an Aman. Aman's properties are much better kept as well.
That being said, Mayakoba is pretty. I've been there a few times and it's always been clean and comfortable. 5-star? No. Quiet and pretty though.
