I spent NYE at Ai Cavalieri in Venice, which friends had reserved. It was small and luxurious with great service and I would definitely go back. Venice that time of year is magical. Our friends moved on to Gritti Palace and really loved it.
Lydmar Stockholm last week was solid - I think still the best in the centre of the city.
I walked past Iniala in Malta this week and they are definitely making progress, but still a long way off opening. 20C and bright sunshine in early February was a real contrast to frigid London and Stockholm.
End of next week a 2 week trip to KK Beach outside Galle in Sri Lanka, will drop in to Galla but wasn’t particularly driven to stay there again. Then a one bedroom villa at Como Cocoa Island - can’t wait.
So far have only booked Hotel Sezz Saint Tropez in the Summer.
Happy travels everyone!

I stayed at Le Mount Stephen last week (completing a week long stay at Auberge Saint Antoine in Quebec City as I type). The original part of the hotel is old school chic & sexy. Very “Eyes Wide Shut” then you enter the reception and part of the building where the rooms are and it’s Las Vegas kitsch and dental office lighting. I did think bathrooms were of nice size, shower was good but Swarovski (or whatever those stones are?) crystals on the sink hardware and “Enter the Void” type of lighting in the shower???
Restaurant & bar were good. Staff & service - eh, meh but I guess they’re trying.

Great trips and love all the choices! For Miami, I'd suggest/vote on Four Seasons Surfside

March -- a week at Casa Que Canta in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, oceanfront master pool suite
May -- a week at Cap Juluca on Anguilla, beachfront one-bedroom pool suite
July -- 12-day Windstar Alaska cruise cruise, Vancouver to Seward via the Inland Passage, owners suite, accompanied by friends!
Hoping to book something in September/October but our traveling days are numbered in short terms as Jim's decline accelerates.

Just booked 6 nights at Kudadoo Private Island via DavidO for mid August. Initial reviews look incredible, but fingers crossed as always! Spending 4 nights in Singapore on the way there and 1 in Hong Kong on the way home. Thinking about booking a personality suite at the refurbished Raffles in Singapore, but a bit apprehensive given the hotel is only supposed to re-open 2 weeks prior to our trip! Anyone's thoughts or critique would be welcome!
