What does everyone think about a 1 hour connection in Frankfurt? I have a single booking on United SFO-FRA with a 1 hour connection on a Lufthansa flight to Dublin (FRA-DUB). I'm a little concerned about the connection time but if I understand correctly, Lufthansa only flies out of Terminal 1 in Frankfurt. I know anything can happen with flight delays and I could be on opposite ends of the terminal but I won't be checking any bags. Will I still need to go through security or passport check? The alternative is a 5 hour layover which doesn't sound great. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.
UA flights usually arrive at a Z gate but in order to reach B gates where flights to DUB usually depart from you will have to clear transfer security because of the layout of the airport. At certain times of the day there are transfer buses from Z to B which allow you to skip security but it is not clear if the service is available when you arrive in FRA. Without a transfer bus 1 hour is extremely tight. There are other “tricks” like going through passport control twice to avoid transfer security but it’s not recommended unless you can use Easy-PASS gates (i.e. EU passport holders, US passport holders who have registered to use Easy-PASS gates).

Hi everyone,
Years since I’ve transited FRA! I’m arriving on LH953 from BHX which seems to use AEUW pretty much all the time, connecting to LH402 to EWR which I assume will be a Z gate.
Is it just a ‘follow the signs’ job or are there any pro tips / things to avoid? Travelling in J with the family.
Thanks, all!

Been a while since transiting Frankfurt...
Arriving LH FC from JFK (USA) at B26 (Non-Schengen B)
Departing TG FC to BKK (Thailand) at B46 (Non-Schengen B)
Will I need to do a security check?
I will have access to LH FCL by virtual of the inbound (I think) if that changes anything.
Thanks in advance!

At some Schengen airports, pairs of travellers with mixed EU/Schengen + non-EU/Schengen citizenships (e.g. a German + a Canadian travelling together) are able to use the EU passport lanes together (i.e. both people together present their passport/ID at the normal passport checks for EU citizens, as opposed to the E-gates which the non-EU/Schengen citizen can't use).
Does that work at FRA too? (Or is that even a universal Schengen thing?)

I've been doing some more research, and it looks like if the partner is a spouse (in turn: spouse gains freedom of movement too), then Schengen law appears to guarantee use of the EU/EEA/CH lane, see article 10:
https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-cont...6R0399&from=EN
Which doesn't really tell you much about non-spouses, but on a practical level it doesn't seem likely that they'd be asking for marriage certificates.
But if anyone has actual datapoints, I would love to hear (theories aren't particularly helpful).

The FCL B is in the same area as the departures gate for the TG flight. Going to the FCL does not change anything.
The transfer counter for *A partner airlines is near gate B42 so if the OP can go to their departure gate without clearing security they can also go to the transfer counter without clearing security.

Okay, so how about a DUB-FRA-SIN with only a 70 minute connection on a single LH ticket? I won't be checking any bags. Is that too tight? I'm especially worried about this connection since the next FRA-SIN flight isn't until the next morning.

If you miss your connection due to the late arrival of your Dublin flight, Lufthansa would pay you €600 and provide you meals and a hotel room for the night according to EU261/2004.

No security check if you have your boarding pass in your hand. After leaving the gate look for an open door at the terminal just after exiting the aircraft. If there is an open door, do not take the escalator up and look for an employee that checks boarding passes. If you need to visit the transfer counter, you might need to clear security.
Thanks that is what I was looking for.
Depends on the immigration agent.

Be aware that arrival gates may change from day to day and even after a gate number has been announced.

Am I nuts to consider a United SDC to LH codeshares with a 50-minute layover at FRA? I'd be scheduled to arrive from LAX at 11:30 AM at gate Z62, departing for CDG at 12:20 PM from A36. I'm on a US passport with a checked bag.
LH could hopefully get me to Paris on the next flight, which lands at 5:45 PM, but that would only get me to Paris twenty minutes earlier than my current Swiss itinerary while costing me 3½ hours in Los Angeles.
Recent history has the incoming flight arriving very near its scheduled time and being late more often than it's early.
Is there any chance I'd make this connection? The last time I had a connection at FRA, my family and I ended up spending the night there. It wasn't a great experience.

No security needed obv, but the A -> Z passport queue was 500+ people deep. It was insane.
I left security, went upstairs to Z immigration where there was NO queue at all, and made it 5 min before they closed the door...
