can I make it?
We have a United flight, operated by Lufthansa going IAH-FRA-VCE. The Lufthansa flight from IAH will arrive Frankfurt at 9;10 AM with the connecting flight to VCE departing at 10;30 AM. November 15,2013
Our questions are several. What terminal should we expect to arrive, and which should we expect to depart?....Heck...can we even expect to make the connection?..
I am grateful for any help/advice I can get from the expert panel here on Flyertalk. Thanks so much

As UAPremExecflyer has already pointed out follow the signs for your departure gate and take the Skyline train from Pier A where you arrive to T2 C/D (two stops). There is an elevator to take you up to the Skyline train platform between gates A15 and A17.

If you look at the first post of this thread you will find how to check where your arrival and departure gates are likely to be.
Since you will be on the A380 from IAH you will almost certainly arrive at a Z gate. Your connecting flight to VCE is likely to depart from an A gate. You will have to clear passport control in the central area but no security.
You can check the positions of Z and A gates on this map. The A gates are below the Z gates with the same number.
1 hour 20 mins should be enough but should you miss the connection they will put you on the next available flight to VCE. There is only one advice: follow the signs!

Thank you newbie,
my post was not clear, I arrive with LH.But your answer is!
But are you sure of the gates at terminal 2 (seems to be E & D gates).
Concerning the Connection LH to CX, it would be more logical to send me to LHR with BA or eventually to Paris with AF as I'm french, FRA is a bit weird but I shall discover a new airport....
so thank you very much for the answers.
JC
Presumably because no oneworld airline flies between TLS and FRA.

I don't know how you booked your ticket but if you check CX booking site TLS-FRA-HKG or vice versa on LH/CX is offered as an option on some dates.

Doing LH JFK-FRA-RUH in a couple weeks...been tracking those flights, looks like my inbound to FRA would arrive deep Z and outbound would leave in the C14-C16 block...yikes.
Reading through the thread, seems like it's Skytrain, get off at B/C and walk a loooooong way to the C gates (did this a year ago and almost missed my flight). For a fast power-walker, is it just as efficient (if not more so) to just walk the whole way?
Note: have a 2:15 layover so not super time stressed, just curious.
Thanks.

You can then walk the whole length of Terminal 1 from A to C. The arrival level should be quieter than the departure level but since A, B and C are separated on the arrival level you will have to cross a couple of service roads. Or you can go outside and walk on the pavement which might be quicker.
The new border check point in Z seems to be always quiet with hardly anybody queuing but I have no idea what passport control in C (to leave Schengen) is like. If you arrive at Z13-25 going via the Skyline train would be more straightforward.
Whichever way you choose I think you will have to clear security at some point.

Thanks much - I'd like to minimize passport/security encounters so I guess Skytrain it is for me!

Hi all. Found this thread and was hoping someone with knowledge of Frankfurt airport could be of some assistance.
I'm flying to Turkey in two weeks for a conference. On the way back to the U.S. I have a flight from Istanbul to Frankfurt and then from Frankfurt to Denver.
I have a friend who lives in Frankfurt, and I thought it would be nice to say hello to him at Frankfurt airport. My layover is scheduled to be 2 hours and 40 minutes.
I assume that I will have to go out through security and then back through. Will I also have to go out through German customs? If so, do you think all of that leaves me enough time to go meet my friend and grab a sandwich, while still having time to get back through security (maybe customs too?) and to my flight? I'm assuming since it's an international flight they would want you to be at the gate at least ~45 minutes before?
I've only flown international once, and I've never attempted anything like this. Just trying to figure out if I have enough time to make it feasible. Any help is appreciated!
Cheers!

In order to meet your friend landside you will have to follow the sign for Exit, go through passport control and go down the escalator. Like many of your compatriots I assume you are using the term 'customs' to mean 'passport/border control'. There are customs just after passport control but you are unlikely to be stopped. The length of queues at passport control might determine how much time you will have to stay landside to meet your friend.
You will come out into the public area on departure level between a Relay shop (select 'Terminal 1, Area B, Level 2 - departure hall B' to see its location on the map) on the right and Burresi and Porsche Design shops on the left.
There are some cafes and restaurants in this area (to your right). I suggest you go through security at least one hour before departure. After security you will have to go through document check (for US departure) and passport control. Some of the Z gates are quite a long walk from the central area where security/passport control is located.
I hope your friend knows Frankfurt Airport reasonably well to pick a spot to meet you and show you where you should go when it's time to go through security and passport control.

I'm assuming you are connecting from TK1587 to LH446. Your TK flight will arrive at a B gate and the flight to DEN will depart from a Z gate. If you are not meeting a friend in FRA you will need to go through security but no passport control.

I have originated in FRA a few times but I have never done a transit the type of which I am attempting on Thursday (with the +1 in tow as well so I want to know what I'm doing, or at least look like I know what I'm doing!)
We are arriving off LH901 from LHR which looks as if it consistently gets a bus gate on arrival. We are connecting to LH630 to DXB, in F.
I assume if all works according to plan, LH should pick us up planeside and take us to the bus drop off point. LH.com says the bus drop off for LH901 is A-NS but I understand I can ask to be taken to the A-NS or B-NS drop off point - which is better for the FCL B? (I guess B-NS, but this is FRA...)
Thanks.

If going to the FCT is not an option ask to be dropped at B-NS, go upstairs, through security and go to the FCL B.

Beginners' guide to connecting at FRA [FRA connection thread]
Thanks. I've been to the FCT but never the FCL (which I hear has a better view) so would quite like to try it out!
