According to an Italian forum, LH has also requested slots for domestic flights from MXP (these new services should start the next summer season):
MXP-NAP (3x daily)
MXP-FCO (5x daily)
MXP-CTA (2x daily)
The MXP-LHR route should be 5x daily. The long-haul routes should start next year (it's a rumour).

The 6th A319 destined for EN is now also stored at HAM: D-AKNK. Contrary to the other 5 A319s, D-AKNK has never been operated by Eurowings IIRC. Before the transfer to Germanwings a couple of years ago, this A319 was operated by US.

Lufthansa is to found its own Italian airline under the new brand early next year and apply for an Italian Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

Lufthansa Italia
Interesting:
http://konzern.lufthansa.com/en/html...lia/index.html
I am a bit surprised about the livery of these aircrafts. It appears to be mainline, however under Italian license and with a regional touch:
Didn't we read the news about these A319 going to Air Dolomiti? Rebranding? Or (on the corporate website) a new airline: "In early 2009, Lufthansa is to found its own Italian airline with the new brand and apply for an Italian Air Operator Certificate (AOC)."
The Italian webside announces the following routes:

All destinations will be served by Airbus A319 jets, seating 138 passengers in Business und Economy Class. The cabin interior will be designed Italian-style, in-flight service will be in the hands of Italian fights attendants and Italian delicacies will round off the in-flight cuisine.
The Italian webside announces the following routes:
From 2 February 2009, we’ll be offering you direct flights from Milan to the first two new destinations - Barcelona and Paris. From 2 March 2009, we’ll be extending the choice of destinations, with flights to Brussels, Budapest, Bucharest and Madrid. And starting on 29 March 2009, London and Lisbon will be added to the list too.

The press release makes it sounds like they indeed changed their plans slightly and it'll get another AOC.
