Unusuall farewell party

Today, onboard of SP-LPA, LO2 ORD-WAW, CPT-SV Jerzy Gozdz holding nr 10 on seniority list of PLL LOT (est. 1929) retired. He did spectatular low-pass over EPWA and was honoured with water salute after landing.

I think such a people are a part of a history. He started his adventure on IL-14 and believe me - no one of pilots played piano in Sheraton, ORD better than him! Respect Capitain!

isn't this an old ritual to say farewell to pilots after their last touchdown before retirement?

Yes, but a lot of airlines have stopped doing it to save costs - they have to pay the airport fire department for their efforts, and many of them no longer consider it a worthwhile expense...
