So hour plane arrived and *drumroll* the crew left the plane. It's not officially cancelled yet while the TXL flight is. Let's see how long it takes them to cancel the FRA flight too. I guess once they're done accommodating the TXL pax

My ZRH-NUE flight had to take an odd routing due to heavy thunder storms between STR and ZRH. We went all the way east and then over MUC to NUE.

Apparently PAX of some arriving flights are trapped in their planes and not let out due to the weather. To be continued..

Care to explain what the gibberish means?

And yeah, at this point I'd be much happier if they'd just put me in a hotel here in Stuttgart.

In the meantime they announced cancellations for about half a dozen flights, it seems just like the other TXL flight and FRA are still pending. I hope this doesn't end like my last evening flight cancellation out of STR were all hotels anywhere near the airport were fully booked and they had to put my into a place about half an hour away. (Which incidentally was the Condor crew hotel)

The lounge warden just told a pax that LH doesn't provide hotels at all in case of weather. That's not what I've seen in the past. Time to look at the EU regs..

It looks like, you have fun at the lounge. Shouldn´t be the lounge closed now ?

Still rather crowded. But this isn't UA, so they stay open until the last flight is cancelled.

LH is required to give care (i.e. food+hotel) whatever the reason for the delay/cancellation. No cash compensation is due though.

Ground crew (baggage handlers, refuelling, etc) are not allowed to be outside during a thunder storm for safety reasons. Kind of makes sense, but I don't know why an airbridge could not be attached ?

I could see an airbridge beeing attached to a plane in front of me and lots of pax walking out. But there might be more planes waiting then there are jet-bridges. At least all bridges I can see from the lounge-window are taken.

261/2004 seems to be pretty clear that compensation is waived for extra-ordinary circumstances (which makes sense), but assistance and care and thus the hotel room is not.

Well, let's see how this works out.
