Do reward tkts still qualify for day htl rooms at FRA? Or how to best spend 9 hours?

According to the following link, transpac reported that day rooms were available for reward FC travelers:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum32/HTML/001798.html

Friends will be arriving FRA on a LH long haul with a 9 hour layover and then departing on another SQ long haul. Would this qualify for the free room, or do both trips have to be on LH?

If this is no longer available... would a Sheraton day room be the only option... and about what would it cost?

Any other fun way to spend 9 hours in FRA? Thx very much.

According to LHs announcement, arriving F-class passenger can reserve a room from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kempinski Hotel Gravenbruch Frankfur (subject to availability). In bold type, the web site says "For our First Class passengers this service is free subject to advance reservation and presentation of a valid boarding card."

Hummm alrighty then... so the answer was NO according to a LH supervisor in FRA. Not on an award tkt anyway. And THAT was their final word.

FWIW, the Seraton wants 130 euro for a stay until 6PM.

It's at the Kempinski. Contact the hotel directly, and say you are an LH F pax. Once you arrive, just head staight over there and check in. You never even have to mention it to LH.

Well... bummer. Live and learn. Thanks Pacha, albeit the info is a day late and a dollar short!

We already had a quite similar discussion some months ago (award ticket in F, the ground staff insisted that an award ticket does not qualify for a complimentary day-use room) - but LH's own official message (as quoted above by Patron) does not distinguish between a paid and an award ticket. It would have been sufficient to carry a printout of the official statement when asking for the room.

Anyway, next time.

Last week I had an 8 hour layover in FRA traveling outbound in F. Rather than a day room, I took the train into the city and walked to the Rembrandt exhibition at the Stadl and the adonnaM.mp3 exhibition. It was a fun way to spend a few hours.
