LH to start service to Algiers
With Lufthansa nonstop to Algiers
From 15th July five times a week to the Algerian capital once again
27.05.05
Lufthansa passengers now have an additional direct flight to North Africa. he airline will be offering five nonstop flights a week from Frankfurt to Algiers. On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, a Boeing 737 with the flight number LH 4124 will depart from Frankfurt at 22.30 hrs, arriving in the Algerian capital at 0.10 hrs. The return flight will leave Algiers at 2.15 hrs and will land in Frankfurt at 6.00 hrs (all times are local times).
The three-million metropolis of Algiers is of particular interest to the oil industry. Oil and gas account for 97 percent of the country’s exports and about 30 percent of the gross do-mestic product of Algeria. Economic growth amounted to 5.5 percent last year, and was even as high as 6.8 percent in 2003. In 2004, Germany imported goods worth around 825 million Euro (mainly mineral oil) and exported goods worth 974 million Euro to Algeria. Algeria has an Association Agreement with the European Union, which will probably come into force this year.
There was already a Lufthansa connection with Algiers from April 1976 to the end of 1990 which had to be suspended for economic reasons.

Not the best with those nightflights, but anyway, a good move as ALG is becoming more and more a business destination.
