Travel from FRA to DUS

I have been pricing flights from FRA/DUS and they are a little outrageous, at least on the United site. I can't read German.

There do not appear to be any award flights available on our flight days. Any suggestions? How does the train work? How much does it cost?

All advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Punki

There are trains departing quite frequently from the airport's train station to DUS at approx. 60 EUR per person (one way).

It will take approximately 1h40m by train. Trains go twice an hour or so. You can visit http://www.bahn.de (Deutsche Bahn Website). Then click on "Int. Guests" to get to the English version.
Travelling by plane isn't worth it IMO.

Cheers,
Torsten

if you return to FRA by train, dont spend 240 EUR on 4 oneway tickets, but buy a BAHNCARD25 (50 EUR) at the airport trainstation when buying the tickets. your total bill will be only 200 EUR, since you will get 25 % off (90 EUR) and your partner will get 50 % off (60 EUR)

What about "flying" FRA-QKL and then take connecting train to DUS ? (better say, stay in the same coach with different ticket?)

good idea... he can book FRA-QKL-FRA on united.com for 72 USD (55 EUR) per person. Just add 31,20 EUR return per person for the 21 minute continuing ride on the same ICE to Düsseldorf central station and it is cheaper than the option I mentioned above. The FRA-QKL-FRA ride is a bit more expensive (about 20 EUR per person) if no saturday night stay is included).

That is only possible, if you travel with hand luggage. If you have checked baggage, you have to leave the train (or you try to check in and take the luggage with you).

You could use Mcflight Flugvermittlung; they have an Search Enginge in Englisch (just click on Flights (engl.)) and offer all flights (but think about the Service Charge)
