Thanks for the extra information Uli. I was not 100% sure if it was a standard feature!

Are you sure award F tickets don't qualify for the Kempinski day room? The LH web site makes no mention of that distinction. I'm on an F award and plan to use that benefit. Anyone care to chime in? Thanks!

I've been there twice this year with an upgrade from C to F (booking class O, the same as on a 'pure' award ticket) without any problem. I strongly believe, that it was not just good luck but that they don't mind the distinction between F tickets paid with money or miles.

My father-in-law is flying from to MAA via FRA in coach. He has 4.5 hr layover and wants to take shower at airport. He has no status on any airline. What are his options? Is there anything like AMS's Mercure hotel where you can get a shower pass?

United C

This Friday I'm flying on a United C (Paid Business) class ticket on Lufthansa (code shared as United) and have Star Silver status (United Premier). I'm planning on stopping by the LH Business lounge in FRA for my 4 hour layover. What can I expect? Food, showers, etc? Any tips? It's my firsttime on a business class ticket and will be my first lounge experience so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My recollection of the LH Business Lounges is that they are ultra pov.

No food to speak of (unless you like peanuts and pretzels) and the alcohol is of very limited selection and very poor quality.

Try and get into a Senator lounge, which is marginally better.

I prefer the RCC. Similar wine, food, much less crowded in AM. No tv noise problem, (none in the FTL lounge we were in). The FTL lounge used headsets for tv, the RCC tv was busted. We had to sit in front of the TV to get a seat in the FTL, the RCC was maybe 10% full.

The RCC is convenient to UA A & B gates. To get to the UA B gates using the fast security check instead of the slow one, from the RCC, follow the signs to the casino, go thru the check, and down the steps. You are in front of gate B-23, and behind the zoo.
