I was about to mention this! How can this kind of thing happen at all? When someone tries to dispatch a new aircraft (registration wise) to a new country, wouldn't the computer display a big NO? This is just a simple database check, right?

The US DOT refuses to accept the EW for SN ops and keeps terminating the permit. Some info here: https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/n...-blames-france

Thanks. Setting aside who is "right or wrong" at the governmental/political level (because at the airline operational side that should be irrelevant), this article would lead me to believe that someone at SN knew of the possible issue and decided to roll the dice on essentially not getting "caught"/turned around. If so, it makes the whole situation way worse.

+ 1

Madness to embark on a flight knowing there are unresolved issues

Makes you wonder whether they’re doing that deliberately, in order to tarnish the SN brand as a prerequisite for a complete rebranding into EW.

On the other hand, Hanlon’s razor says “don’t assign to malice what can be explained by incompetence”.

But if that was intended they wouldn’t use a frame in EW colors, wouldn’t they? Maybe the other way around, to try and defend the SN brand?

Flight aware isn't showing that it's turned around and flight staus is still saying it's going to arrive in IAD! Any thoughts?
