Oh wow that's a pretty significant change. Any sense as to when the rest of the fleet that's eligible for an F cabin will start to get refreshed? Is the next D check too soon?

If they remove the Oasis seat from existing installs it will be part of the mega retrofit (new C) of the B748s & A380 in 2021-23. My comment was more to new F on the A359.

Going from 8 to 4 seats, I bet these will achieve close to 100% capacity at high fares.

Seems like A359s will get 4 F seats.

Purser last week mentioned that and said its just not certain whether the big birds will also get 4 or keep 8 F seats.

This is excellent news. Will there be some sort of announcement?

A bird just tweeted to me that LH will take 15 of the 20 789s for themselves.

I have a sneaking suspicion of where the other 5 B789 might go but I really hope I'm wrong. I really don't want LX to get the remaining 5. The LH ones I can evade, on LX this would be more difficult. :/ I hope they go to Austrian to replace the 767s or LH takes all 20 or something...

So perfectly in line with my signature: If what I think is happening, is happening... It better not be.

I (also...) think that it looks like they will replace 5x A343 at LX. No new planes for OS and SN...

ugh It'd be such a huge downgrade... I'd rather keep flying with the A343s!

Before the refurb I would not have agreed. With the refurb the A343 is a very nice ride although a bit slooooooow.

However, with a new C coming on the B789, that would make the difference. Even if I haven't missed out on 4A or 5K in years on LX, new C is likely to be better.

.. How would that work with OS? Surely theyre not going to make those ancient 763 and 772 carry on after all...?!?! Or will OS just have no longhaul?

.... And if LX do take 789, and if LX does keep F on all longhaul aircraft, what will F on 789 look like?...

The OS B763 and B772 are definitely going away. The question is how large OS' longhaul operation will be going forward. And whether that operation needs A330, A359 and/or B789. An A359 is rather big and tough to fill, but the type rating for the crew is common with the A330. SN is set to remain an A330 outfit, they just got completely reset with new (used) aircraft that are all getting a new cabin retrofitted. (Also Vantage similar to LX B773/A343).

There is a gap between 779 and 320 series which A321LR is trying to fill in. Boeing might respond with NMA - which probably will have 7200km range with 200-225 seats. 788 is still a bit too large.

7200km from ZRH would cover smaller US/Canadian east coast cities, Northern African cities like NBO, and Middle Eastern cities like DXB. A small widebody should work well.
Less North American coverage from VIE.

Maybe a good choice for Swiss if A321LR isn't good enough?

I believe that OS will get the remaining 789 whereas the 359 goes to LX. This would allow LX to keep an F cabin since the next badge 2022 suppose to have a mini F.
