Exit LHR T2 Airside before flight

Exit LHR T2 Airside before flight
What’s the procedure to leave the airside area of T2? Can I just walk back, or do I need to arrive through immigration?
At T5 you have to be escorted out, or take the shuttle to B/C and arrive through the U.K. Border.

I've never done it, but same deal as T5, I would guess. The whole departure area is a 'common zone' between domestic and international passengers, so you'll need to find someone to escort you to the arrivals level and go through immigration.
