does anybody have an idea what was up with LH415? It did divert twice, first to YYT and then again to DUB?

A pax had a medical condition requiring a diversion to YYT. Since the crew was about to time out, the decision was taken to fly to DUB to have a change of crew instead of stranding everyone in YYT.

I was in a similar situation on LH415 last year, the medical diversion started just after we had started the atlantic crossing north of BGR. First they decided to divert to BGR, but changed it to BOS. Once we landed in BOS at 3am the crew announced it would time out, so everyone was offloaded and sent to hotels and the flight left the following evening with everyone having a 23h delay. The solution on Monday night sounds much better.

I agree - I'd rather cross the pond and be on my way home than getting stranded in a hotel somewhere in North America. Why the strange route YYT-DUB, though? Did LH need more time to get a crew to DUB?

The strange route is probably because of congestion in the usual NAT so they must have filed a flight plan to avoid that.

The YYT-DUB flight track the 62-63N line to cross greenland and then direct to DUB at FL350. Which is crazy though, the must have cut a across a number of NAT in the process. That said westbound aircraft fly on uneven flight levels, so FL350 may have been vacant.
