LH service in the 70's

We all have a tendency to glorify flying back in the good old days. I still remember the exitement when I entered the B707 as a kid for my first flight to visit relatives...

While the soft product was likely better back then, seating in the pointy end of the tube was certainly worse... http://airlinespastpresent.blogspot....-brochure.html gives some insight into LH's service in the 1970's. Enjoy.

I guess back in the days the costs for a coach ticket were also much higher than now .

Got an idea how much that would be adjusted for inflation?

A simple calculator I found online says that should be equivalent to 270 of today. Expensive, but not that expensive, I guess.

But not lounge access I wonder if there was any semi-FF program that could let passenger to qualify for lounge access?

In my recollection, there was a checkbox "VIP" on the back of the boarding pass. If checked, you were invited to the senator lounge. Also, certain passengers received the HON status upon invitation.

1978 first class seats appeared less roomy and confortable than current PE seats...

Yes, although Germany has been quite liberal in this respect for decades, I was amazed to see that LH offered Playboy aboard its planes. It has vanished with globalisation...

Air Berlin offered Playboy until the mid or late 2000s, but with a neutral cover ;-)
What surprises me: On page 7 it says: "...trolleys are well stocked with alcoholic beverages (no charge in first class)..." So did the charge for a beer or wine in economy class? A kind of early version of a buy onboad model?

Sounds weird... My recollection (which is more from the 80s than the 70s) is that, not only alcoolic beverages were free of charge, but served in small size bottles that were handed over to the passengers.

Wine and beer was free on all flights IIRC, spirits only on longhaul.
