LH to LY Bag Interline on Separate Tickets
Hi All -
Will be arriving in FRA on LH 443 from DTW and connecting to LY 358 to TLV. These were booked as separate tickets (UA/AA mileage redemption)
A couple questions:
1. Checking in at DTW - will they tag the bags all the way to TLV if I show them the LY confirmation or will I need to pick them up in FRA and re-check?
2. If not, is it a very involved process to clear FRA customs, collect bags and switch to LY area? Will 3 hours be enough time for this?
Thanks in advance!

1 - Yes, you should print out your LY itinerary and show it to them at check-in, and politely insist they tag the bags all the way through to TLV. If they are reluctant, explain that a) LH have an interline agreement with LY which they can look up. b) it is not like USA where all arriving passengers go through customs, you will only be in transit
2 - 3 hours would be enough if flight arrives on time from DTW, but you will be doing a lot of walking ! It is a large airport.
