I actually enjoyed the Taittinger 2006 Comtes de Champagne Rosé served pre-departure, more than the Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle that was served inflight.
Also, only one bottle of the Taittinger was boarded.

It was really strange. I expect such of other airlines.... in J-steerage 
Looking at all of my LH F long-haul flights, not once was there only 1 bottle of any of the champagnes. The FA on this recent flight was apologetic.
LH has cut back on a few other items in recent years. eg. The FAs often placed chocolate on the pillow when making the bed. LX recently placed a lovely bar of chocolate on the bed.
LH also used to have the box of pralines for the cabin, now they give out the personal box of 4. Sure, 4 is perfectly nice, but there is something mildly luxurious about crew holding the box open to allow you to choose among a wide assortment. Yes, yes, FWP.

Just to clarify: LH now loads 4 bottles of the main menu champagne (up from 3) and continues to load 1 bottle of the 'special champagne advertised by a full one pager ad. With the exception of one month, the special champagne was more exclusively (and pricier) than the main menu champagne and while I think it would be nicer to load 2 bottles of the special one to cater for a cabin of 8, I can't fault the approach.

At least with the Col Solare they finally serve a decent red wine again. An excellent choice IMO.

It seems October Champagne stays with Pommery Louise Cuvee, my last nights flight had a changed Wines list from September but with the Pommery Louise Cuvee.
