Exactly. I was booked in T, which brings me 366 miles for TLV-VIE, P would bring me 1464...

In the redservices apart from the Smart upgrade I found "red|upgrade at Web Check-in" .It says that it should work for longhaul flights too..
Was anyone offered a cash upgrade for l/h flights? I was wondering how different is their offer for C-class (in comparison to what people offer in the smart upg)..

Great deal. How much had you paid for your Y fare?

8 months ago I booked 4 tickets in x for ord -vie for this August. No business class savers were available. I looked today and one business class saver was available so I grabbed it and now have two reservations for the same flight. Will they charge me to refund the miles (united) and cancel my x seat. I assume worst case I can just cancel the award I just made with the 24 hour rule.

Also see it was asked earlier, but has anybody ever seen an upgrade offer for x at OLCI. Having one seat will be tough to see who gets it. Also noticed I can't use EF for this carrier to search for business saver availability should it open. Is this correct.

Now available in short-haul European C http://www.austrianairlines.ag/Press...-FE5E3CB68ED8}
The red upgrade costs between 99e and 200e(?)
I wonder if they would accept 50e bid on a route where the red upgrade is 99.

I have checked the flight to MLE on Wednesday and it looks light.

Does anyone know if this "X" class seat can be upgraded at check in? Any idea how much?

Thanks so much
Same situation. Answer is yes upon check in. Have a united MP ticket and was offered at check in for 599e. Accepted and had 6 seats to choose from.

also, since noone was explicitly tracking it, any connection between fare class paid and offer acceptance? if we buy a red|ticket I would otherwise think they would want a better offer than if we bought a higher fare class.. thoughts?

I have no idea how the revenue management works on smart bid. You have the chances of being upgraded though. I was booked in L IAD-VIE and got the upgrade for 370 Eur.

The trip was end of January. The load factor in Y was around 50%.

thanks.

my concerns is my trip is only 3 days long, and so I had to buy a relatively expensive ticket ($2k) but its only in U class Worried they'd expect me to bid a lot more given the class (despite fare being higher than normal for that class).

(EDIT - I had assumed from the United "earning on other airlines" page that U was a very low fare class, but in M&M its actually pretty high)!

Both of my flights at end of August are J9, and not always reliable seat map shows 33 unassigned seats in J outbound and 20 inbound.

Am planning on bidding about 400 EUR each way..

Thanks for replies. I paid $2200 for my U class ticket (only 3 day trip) and have initially bid $500 outbound for an upgrade (about 380 EUR) and $560 inbound.

Part of my rationale is there are currently 33 unassigned J seats on the seat map outbound and 21 inbound. As we get closer, and maybe I get more information from people on here, I will likely edit my bids. At worst I can pay up at OLCI.

There were saver business award tickets on my exact itinerary, but I chose to buy these instead since it was going to cost 140,000 miles since its a *A award. It was a tough call since thats a ~$3000 value ticket (and $3k given my base + bids above). I am getting a $2000 travel allowance for the trip.

Any suggestions welcome, and thanks again. Really looking forward to this trip.
