Upgrade chances FRA-CAI September 17
Not being very well experienced with all the tools I am wondering if someone could give me some information:
Flying FRA-CAI in discounted Business Class.
Is it worth to upgrade this short trip using miles?
Is there a chance to be upgraded with SEN status? Can someone check the booking situation?
Thanks a lot!!!

As it is a day flight, there's no full pyiama. IIRC only a shirt.

Sweater on the way out to CAI, full PJ returning next morning.
Full meal service outbound, some breakfast coming back but I always just sleep until 10 mins to landing.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it is relevant. This service used to be operated by a widebody aircraft, but now it is served by an A321. When it was a widebody, I flew it in C and remember the service being the long-haul style with appetizers/entrees/and full dessert cart. On the A321, however, is it just a one-tray service like intra-Europe due to galley space? What about amenity kits, printed menus, and pre-departure champagne? It is a 2pm departure.

They have amenity kits, but on about 50% of the flights they are simply not loaded. There is no pre-departure champagne or stuff like this and the meals are very reduced compared to 2011.
Also, no more HON escort service on arrival, no business class pillows or blankets. Not to forget about the crazy seats.
Business class is often 12 or 14 rows, so there is absolutely no "personal feeling" like in business class before, and most of the times 5-10 people from economy class are standing in business class waiting for the toilet. Furthermore, very often the FAs are stowing hand lagguage from eco pax between business class seats, it is a completely crazy thing LH is doing here.
I have done this route frequently and was staying with LH for many more flights also on the 321, but since they decided to p*** o** their frequent fliers even more, I am now booking other airlines for this route. LH is giving a stupid star and taking away many important benefits, service still declining.
Go for Egypt Air or use something else than Star Alliance!

I am just surprised frankly that it is a one-tray meal (if that is what you are suggesting) and not the same three-course offering of the widebody aircraft. Or is it the same on widebody flights to CAI (if/when they have them)? I wonder if they would load the amenity kits on a 2pm departure, and why no predeparture drink on this sector? They do it on other Middle Eastern flights.

I'd be more worried about the 3am return!
It's Africa. I'm not being pedantic - just that it perhaps more attuned to the Maghreb services. Frankfurt Tunis with Lufthansa was just horrible.
Unless FRA is your origin, it would make a lot more sense to fly via Zurich.
