Will be flying the A380 to PEK next week. Will check how full F is - I'm curious.

On the route FRA-JFK the A380 will be replaced by smaller airbus on June 11,12,14,16,18,19 and 21 (flights LH400/LH401). Reason: Late delivery of the 8th A380 to LH.

Unfortunately no comments on that post... but maybe someone can answer in retrospect: Was there anything special about the first A380s flights to JFK or SFO? something like champagne for everybody or so?
I'm just curious because I'll be on the first A380 flight to SIN.

I'm booked on 401 (JFK-FRA) on July 1 and 400 (FRA-JFK) on July 4 in business class, it was an a380 when booked but I check my itinerary and the seat map shows 747, I was looking forward to that new plane smell, am I going to be stuck on the 747?

just flew LH400 on the A380 in Business. It was a nice experience (although the product itself is average at best - see my tripreport for more details) Maybe you can rebook to another date if you`re flexible.

I have a flight with A380 Lufthansa for the first time. Could someone recommend a good place in the economy class please. I am flying with a companion and I chose seat 50J and 50K. or maybe better will be in row 61A,B or 78A,B.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi VTHokieFlyer, I will also be onboard LH401 in C on Friday. See PM for more details.

Yes, it looks like there has been an equipment change, and we wil have a trusty ol' 747-400 this time.

If 75B,C or 75H,J are free, those might be good with a companion, as you have exit door space and no one sitting next to you. 76A,K are also good in my experience with nothing in front of you as a single traveler, but 76B,J next to them are not special.

One aircraft was a little bit damaged by a truck while parked at the airbus plant in Hamburg, waiting for delivery to LH.

This newest A380 will now be delivered by Airbus with an approx. delay of 4 weeks to Lufthansa on July 4th.

There is no 75 C/J. For a single traveler, I would not recommend 75B/H (exit row, aisle). They are very close to the lavatories (even more so as they are shifted towards the aisle a bit with respect to the other rows). These lavatories are highly frequented, so that someone bumps into you every five minutes when you are not leaning towards the seat next to you. As it tends to get really crowded in that area, people also like to stand in front of you / between your legs / step on your feet (not so nice when you are trying to sleep) while they wait for one of the lavatories to become available. The latter affects 75A/K as well, so if quietness is important, row 75 might not be ideal.

For a single traveler, I personally like 76A/K most (exit row space and relatively quiet). However, the downside is that you might need some time to get out of the aircraft upon arrival being that far back in the plane.

53D/G might be an alternative (bulkhead, the wall in front leaves some space to stretch your legs). However, you are likely to be close to a bassinet.

I flew FRA-JFK in First Class recently (aircraft was "Beijing", so I think the first A380 that LH received).

The FC cabin already looked a little worn. In particular, the carpet looked really bad (a little torn and stained). Also, there were large areas of stains on the seats (as if someone sweaty had been sitting in the seats, not only mine).

Overall, LH missed the opportunity to elevate the FC experience to a new level (EK, EY are far ahead).

D-AIMC was the third A380 of the fleet, I recall it was delivered around August 2010.
