Do Istanbul with stopover somewhere in EU in biz, can be done for 1100 USD and gives you 8K/point at a time (+ executive bonus). Would make you senator in less than 10KEUR (but requires you like istanbul.

That's still quite a bit to spend on just mileage runs, no? When LH had their recent C promo you could have made SEN for under 1/2 of that amount.

Then again that double status miles offer might be worth looking into.

If one has enough time to do MRs within the US, SEN should be achievable for under €3k.

The magic word is Y-UP (K-UP, or similar), LX Business Saver in Europe and MS F or C long haul.

Right, found it on orbitz.com - right, in double status miles, you could get less than 5K

What was the recent c promo?

Some very good promotional rates like FRA-SIN return for 1,300 Euros.

LX has some deals, though they vary between countries. I'm pretty sure that a few days ago I saw a RT to Japan for around 2,300 Euros in C from somewhere in Europe via ZRH.

There may have been discount Z fares ex-SIN but this year's Easter Special Z fares were ex-Germany to a number of longhaul destinations for €999 or €1299 a.i. I know because I flew MUC-NRT return for €1295 a.i.

There have also been a summer promo and more recently a Xmas special but nothing to beat the 2010 Easter specials.

Yeah, it was the Easter one ex-Germany.

I wouldn't mind a promo with "reverse fixtures" though.

There was also an ex -SIN sales with 50% discount. Iirc it was a one day sale and one had to show up at the SIN office.

How did news about this one spread? Did they post anything on the web site or was it a targeted promo via email?

Technically you don't have to be married, the website states:

"Senator partner card for spouse / partner"
