LX has discounted summer business fares off of the German site to New York and Boston at around €1700-€1800. On the surface, they are no better than what Lufthansa is offering, except that they give you 200% mileage. Worth the stopover in Switzerland, me thinks.

Travel must be completed before September 12, 2012
Vouchers are valid for flights operated by United Airlines, Austrian Airline and Air Canada
The voucher can only be redeemed at www.lufthansa.com. The voucher is not valid in conjunction with any "Access Code" used to purchase already discounted fares.
The voucher is intended for personal use only. Its resale or any other transfer to a third party is prohibited. In the event of a contravention, Lufthansa, or a third party authorised by Lufthansa, reserves the right to refuse to redeem the voucher.
Vouchers are only valid for itineraries where all flights are operated by Lufthansa and Lufthansa Regional Partner (incl. Lufthansa City Line and Eurowings).
The voucher can be redeemed between 25/05/2012 and 31/05/2012.

Only one voucher can be used for each booking process.

For NYC-FRA run by united, following error

My guess is that UNITED FLIGHTS can ONLY be used for connections and the main international segment must be run by LH.

Also not working for TATL oN Austrian. And although I wouldn't expect otherwise, it doesnt work for other Lufthansa Group carriers either.
