Is there a Post Office at LAX?

One website says there's one at TBIT on the departure level, while the USPS.gov site says there isn't. I'm inclined to believe the latter but just want to check.

From lawa.org

* U.S. Postal Service: Postal services are not available in any of the terminals at LAX. Travelers need to mail their correspondence before coming to the airport. The nearest U.S. Postal Service is located at 9029 Airport Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90009. Regular business hours are everyday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. For information, call 1-800-ASK-USPS.

IIRC, the above location is in the area where the major car rental companies have their lots.

Don;t think I have enough time to go to the offsite office with 2:30 transit. Thanks.

I guess the site I found wasn't a real LAX site.

You would have to hire a cab. The post office is about a mile, or 30 min walk each way, from the car rental agencies or a nearby hotel, so none of the free shuttles are too useful for getting there. While there are no USPS facilities at LAX, the attendants are various lounges will often take mail for you (AA in T4, DL in T5 and CX in TBIT definitely do this). Before you ask, the reason for the lack of mail boxes and USPS facilities at LAX is simple: bomb threat. So it isn't an oversight, and they won't be restoring service in the next few years.

You can take either of the Avis or Hertz shuttles, as they share the same intersection as the post office.

-Post Office is on the NW corner.
-Hertz is on the NE corner.
-Avis is on the SW corner.

The easiest and shortest walk will be the Avis shuttle. If you take the Avis shuttle, get off when you reach the regular counter (bypass the Preferred Counter). Walk towards the front of the bus, out the gate onto the street, and turn left.

If you take the Hertz shuttle, get off at the #1 Gold Club area, then walk away from the intersection.... there will be a gate on the SW corner of the lot, then you'll turn right and backtrack to the Post Office.

The bus ride should be <10 minutes, then a 5-10 min walk. 2h30m is tight but doable, IMO.

Hope that helps.
