Getting the Bus to Watts for fun??

I came across this thread just before leaving for LA, because I, too, really wanted to see the towers. I managed it, by taking the Metro on my way to airport on my last day. It was about a 10 minute walk from the station mentioned above. Not a bad neighborhood during the day, for a big city of course. I hope you get to visit it again because the towers are well worth seeing up close. They are not as big as I expected, nor as numerous, but I admire Mr. Rodia's creativity. You have to stand outside a fence and peer in, but still, you can get a good look at them. There are informative signs around the fence, and peering through the fence is free. If you plan your visit carefully, you can take a tour. What I found on my first trip to LA is it takes a long, long time to get anywhere. Plan accordingly. We hopped back on the Metro to the airport, but still had to wait a while for the train, and then wait for a bus to LAX from the Metro station. I cut it a bit too close for comfort. I would like to go back someday, if I had the chance, to visit it again, and take the tour.
