(But that was it, I didn't give him my card or gave him any personal info). Then, towards the end of the flight, we were handed a survey of which I happily completed and handed it to ANOTHER FA (FA 2). What are your thoughts?

Turn the FA in, this is a violation of privacy and I am sure UA's company policy. If you did want to be contacted by the FA you would have given contact info or vice versa. What this FA did violates the trust you place with UA.

Well, does the OP feel violated or not?

It's the principal of the situation. The FA STOLE the email address from the survey. Who knows what else was on the card, with a name address and possibly MP number we could have identity theft! With the afore mentioned information one could find a DOB and SSN over night.

Oh really? Name, address, e-mail, Mileage Plus Number? I'm not sure how those pieces of information lead to a SSN.

No harm has been done or importantly was intended to be done. Life is far to swift to pass up people paying compliments. A polite reply as suggested is all that is required. We have all done inappropriate or made misjudgements in our lives and really you'd get the guy sacked and those that say well he deserves it for breaking the data protection act should lighten up a bit.

I'm certainly building a profile on people never to seek an email address from save they feel their identity is going to be compromised. Sheesh!

When is the American lead war on Iraq going to be over?

When is the next US election?

We need a sea change.

I vote for a polite response to the FA and let the issue drop. Why make a huge issue out of this - far more important things in life to get worked up about.

Take it as a compliment... the last time I was sort of hin on by a FA was on AIR CHINA in the mid 90's... and SHE was trying to introduce her sister to me!

I should have asked if she had any brothers! But then I was dating someone then...

NOW who is getting a little over excited?

I think the point was that the OP was NOT asked for his email.

As a victim of identity theft, it can happen with just your name, home address, phone number, and name of employer.

Think of how easy it is to get thet information. Infact we give it out all the time.

Anyone who knows what they are doing can find your social if they wanted.

I don't see what the big deal is...it's just an email address. Like most people I have multiple email addresses including one that I use for just travel related accounts.

This all seems rather innocent. I would take it as a compliment and leave it at that. It's always okay to say thanks but no thanks.

Yes I do understand that. My comment is more pointed to the paranoia of some of the posts in this thread. It's like the Spanish Inquisition is about to begin all over again

This FA should be publicly executed for his ability to pay a compliment without asking and perhaps having the ability to do all sorts of nasty things with a passengers email address. I'm in shock at the ramifications. The sky is falling in!

Not to get into a whole other argument, but I'd like to point out that without its so-called coalition, the Bush administration would not have been able to sell the war to the American people. Help me remember which side of the fence Australia was on.

Oh for sure and I don't agree with My home Country being involved either but then I'm voting with my feet and moving to Canada. :)
