casino host question

i play a lot in the mgm "system", when i visit vegas. i received an email from an mgm "host", who was assigned to me. i've sent him several emails (if i phone i only get voicemail, and we would wind up playing phone tag), but gotten only one response (in over a month.) i wound up calling vip services directly and booked my rooms (comped up front)--why have a host if you can't get him to help you? should i request a different host?

Definitely. A host is there to serve you and your needs (and encouraging you to play). He clearly isn't doing his job.

Not only that, he's doing his "anti-job" in a way. He's supposed to make you feel important, special, and desired as a patron....not giving you prompt responses is giving you the opposite impression.

I definitely agree with Mike on this one...Get a new host.

Yep, fire him. I've never had to press a host or complain about returning my calls.

No question. If you feel like you are unimportant to your host, it's because you are unimportant to your host. If they're not going to spend time on you, then definitely don't waste your time on them.

Generally when I begin gambling at a new property, it takes a few host "trials" before I find one that fits my style and is responsive to my needs. Remember that you are the customer and guest; you should not hesitate to drop a host if you feel it's not working for you.

Whether I call my host before the visit or once I'm on the ground in LAS, if she's working, she responds promptly. If you're being assigned a host, it's because something about your play indicates the casino should make an effort to ensure that you come back.

I've had this happen recently -- turns out, the host was promoted into a non-host role. When I got to the casino, it didn't take long for a new host to pounce on me....

shouldn' they have notified you (or me, if it is the case with my assigned slot host) that this occured, so you could deal with a "real" host?

There was probably a "pecking order" for those who get contacted first - I would expect to be contacted eventually (but no casino should ever contact me first).
