Ok guys and gals, I am in limbo as to what to do here. My brother and sister-in-law called and said they wanted to use up their vacation time before the year was out, and asked if we'd like to get out of town, and if so, where to? I of course knew where to go
We've decided to head back out to Vegas December 10-14 since Love is our last "permanant" show we really want to see and it's not dark then, plus there were some really low prices on hotels that week.
So, I got a promo code for MGM which could have us in a standard king room for $69 per night. However, Signature Junior Suites are on sale that week for only $159 per night. I've heard really good things about the Signature, but i've heard that the MGM isn't going to be all that bad either. What I really want to do though is book the cheaper room and then get there and try to grease someone's palm and to try and upgrade to the Signature since I know it's going to be slow that week. So, if it was your money, or in your experience, would you go ahead and get the Signature room? Or would you book the lower rate and try to work your way into a better room once you got out there?

I appreciate the feedback BK. This is going to be for my wife and I, and I'm kinda doubting that we'll be able to jump properties as well. We're not snobs, but we do like a good room to come back too. I think I'll probably just book the junior suite at the Signature and then try to work my way into one with a balcony and perhaps even a 1 bedroom from there. $159 a night for the Sig is probably gonna be too hard to pass up.
The brother and sister-in-law went for a bungalow suite at the regular MGM and they paid a total of around $480. I think they're going to wish they'd went ahead and gone for the Sig for that little bit of a difference.

Don't forget the Sig has a mandatory $20 resort fee. So that $159/night is really $179/night not including tax. So it's $780 or so all in for those four nights. You can get the MGM using this promo code for about $300 all in ($275 if you use the $25 restaurant credit). It's not a mini-suite of course but upgrading to one should be pretty easy on site that week.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on the extra $20 Sirecca. An extra 20 bucks isn't a big deal really, but it's kinda the straw that's breaking the camel's back at this point. After sleeping on it I think I'm going to book the standard tower room with the promo code and get the f&b credit along with 2 free drinks at the bar. From what I read on another post, you can get some pretty pricey drinks and they don't care so long as you tip well. That would just about be like getting free room and board. It's just too cheap to pass up, and also we're just kinda going to chill out this time, but next year when we go we're gonna do the Bellagio thing and get a little higher on the hog. So even if I can't... ahem... work us into a Hollywood Suite, it won't be the end of the world.
