Just got an invite to Caesars "Bacchanal" on August 5th...it is very vague but it is an elaborate looking thing, very different from the constant mailings. It is similar to what they send for NYE. Does anyone know what this is?

I received the Bacchanal invite as well. For years Caesars had a Bacchanal restaurant which was a prixe fixe affair and featured many gourmet courses, wine, and shoulder massages by young ladies in veils. It was closed down in the 80s or 90s. I assume they are going to re-create the experience in celebration of Caesars' 40th anniversary.

The staff seems really confused by the promotions/rates/Reward Credits rules. Got different answers each time I questioned the front desk and Total Rewards folks about earning/using credits, and trying to redeem some of the offers they had sent me.
Interesting that they sent me a promotion for a free Coach handbag a few months ago, and it didn't require earning any points to redeem. Just received a note they "extended" this promotion, but you now have to earn 500 base reward points before you can redeem. One TW rep tried to tell me I had to earn credits, but I showed them the card and got the bag without a problem.

Also interesting that I just completed an online survey asking about all the different rewards programs offered by casinos and how I perceived them and the comps they offered....which was not related to my stay there, came from a random survey group I participate in. One of the casinos must know their program is not up to par...hopefully Harrah's.
Considering the IP didn't have any $10 tables last month, I'm not too surprised the same is true of Caesars.

Hi, just a bump to ask how the news of Harrah's management acceptance of a $90/share takeover bid by Apollo/Texas Pacific private equity partnership could affect the company's hotels on the Strip.

Could some parts be split, sold or spun off?
Cheers. ^

Possibly, but keep in mind that the merger is expected to take at least a year. I guess it's all of those gaming commissions having to sign off on the deal that will take so long. If there are any assets sales or spin offs, they will probably not happen any time soon.

I "think" they will shed some of the non Vegas/AC properties.

My 1st prediction is that they will dump Caesars Indiana --- it is supposed to be rebranded as Horseshoe (what I have heard) --- and doesn't really fit the upscale Caesars image (especially with the upgrades in Las Vegas and AC [Pier etc. etc.] ) --- and personally, the place is just so darn strange (IMHO).

But, they do still have awesome Video Poker, for a Harrahs Property --- and 20x odds at Dice... so, if you are in the area definitely check it out !

ya'know aceman --- are you always trying to one-up me

yeah, we also had 100x odds in Rising Sun, Indiana at Grand Victoria (yes, it is also a Hyatt) --- and double deck pitch with good rules, and 6 deck with good rules and late surrender (but, if you re-call... folks in Indiana like to split those face cards... )

Anyway.... still doesn't beat a good hit and run at the Big Baccarat table at RIO !

My host sent me an email with my play for the 3 days --- RIO is pretty funny --
150/:9
505 win on tbls

the translation : $150 average bet for 9 minutes of play $505 win on a table game.

NOW that is what I call HIT and RUN ! ^

That guy was such a donkey, he could have given us a couple more minutes on the clock!

I think that worked out at 174 Tier points since thats what I seem to have right now.

So that could suggest that playing 206 minutes of baccarat at $150 a hand should be enough to get platinum... Hmmm interesting especially since you could easily get away with not playing for about 15-20 of those minutes.... hmmmm!

Agree that Harrah's has had a negative effect on the Caesars Entertainment properties. They took a high and some higher end properties and turned them into grinder joints. If the buyout goes through, it will be interesting to see whether the management and management philosophy stay the same or not. I don't know anyone who works or vacations in Vegas who has been happy about the changes instituted at the Caesars properties.

Last I was there is was $2 or $3 with 100X odds. Genuine duct tape holding the felt together too. It was also impossible to get near a table.

I thought the claims that Harrahs hates table game players were a bit overblown, until I recently found out that for the same craps play, Harrahs comps 10% of what the old Connection club used to. What Connection would have given you $50 in comps for, Total Rewards gives you about $5.

Totally unbelievable. Harrahs cleared out all of the good video poker machines at Caesards, and now finding out how they (don't) comp on the tables, I won't be returning to any of their properties. I hope this buyout goes through and they do something to restore the Caesars Entertainment properties. Both Total Rewards and the lousy customer service are have driven me and a lot of other people away.

I hope they don't screw up the Barbary Coast since it becomes Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon this week.
