How bad are the McCarran security lines really?

Flew out of LAS on Sunday 2-23 - A Gate and it only took me 30 minutes (got to airport @ 10:30). I have been to LV enough times to know how bad security normally is but thought for the first time that they actually seemed to be doing something right in how they were handling it. Hope this is a good sign for future trips.

As promised an update regarding security at LAS.
Got to airport at 605AM for 738AM flight Monday 3/10 short coach lines, nobody in AA F or elite lines was checked in a through security in less than 15 mins.
AA started boarding 45 minutes before sked time.
One of my friends who was along on the same trip got to the airport 700 AM that same morning for 912AM flight his check-in at AA(for coach) and security took 2 HOURS, they held the flight 15 mins for the pax delayed through security.

I know I wouldn't have managed to get the rates I did if I was there on tourney weekend AND there was a regional in the city.

While I am not big on betting in the sports books (my NCAA gambling mainly remains relegated to the office pool), many other people love to bet in Vegas on the NCAA's. None-the-less, I always seem to have some reason to go to Vegas in March every year (bachelor party, birthdays, etc...). From past experience, the first weekend of the tournament always seems to be the busiest, followed by the Final 4. If you look at the hotel rates for the weekend of 3/21 - 3/23 (first weekend of the tournament), they are higher than most other weekends this time of year. Simply a case of supply and demand.
