This will only be our third trip to Vegas but plan to do Carnival, Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal buffets. I see there are brunch and dinner and of course brunch is cheaper. Just wondering are there a lot of differences in the food choices between brunch and dinner that would make it worth to pay the higher amount for dinner?

Haven't tried Golden Nugget because IMO at their price point ($16 for breakfast, $23 for weekend breakfast, $30 for weekend dinner) the value isn't there and the any possible gain in quality from standard industrial style buffet cooking isn't there either. I'd rather spend money on actual coffee shop breakfast/lunch or maybe EAT, or an actual sit down dinner once we get to those ranges. The BOGOs aren't as nice either (usually it's some "Monday-Thursday" thing).
FWIW, if you're a downtown and Vegas buffet aficionado, I strongly recommend the Las Vegas Advisor coupon book and American Casino Guide. You can likely make your money back on matchplay/freeplay (as long as you walk away after you win or lose the play) and they are loaded with BOGOs/50% off for casino buffets.

Due to temporaty lapse of judgment (i blame on complaining kids) went to aria buffet for breakfast/brunch. Awful barely edible food pretty much across all station aside from meat and potatoes.
I do recall eating there a few years ago and it was ok but boy has it gone downhill...

From reading the last couple pages of this thread it seems like the heyday of the LV buffet is over. Have to position there for a MR/VR to China coming up and was thinking about booking an extended layover (4-5 hours) to grab breakfast in town. I remember 12-15 years ago the breakfast at the Paris was incredible!
Is the general consensus to stick with my current 52 min turn?

Breakfast buffets are still very good (especially Paris and Bellagio). It's the dinner buffets that have deteriorated. I was very disappointed with Aria on my last visit.

Recently I got a few free dinner buffet coupons for the Bellagio. The cheapskate that I am, we used them all.
A few choices were just all right, others were bad. I think I wouldn't spend my own money on that buffet but choose an a la carte restaurant instead.

I agree. I gave up on the Bellagio dinner buffet some time ago, but they still do a good breakfast. I did do the dinner buffet at Paris a few weeks ago and it was very good. It doesn't have the huge selection that some of the others do, but everything is very tasty. I think it's my new favorite.

Aria and Cosmo buffets are also very close to Vdara, as they are both relatively close to the respective property entrances closest to Vdara. Probably 5-6 mins walk.

Paris USED to be really good for dinner back in the 1990s. It's still OK but costs more and delivers less...much more in line with what is paid now. Also a lower grade of crab legs now and, tellingly, not as much of a feeding frenzy when they first put them out like in the good-ol-days.
In terms of value I've become a real fan of the Saturday night prime rib and crab legs buffet at the Virgin River in Mesquite for $15.99 (and it's popular). I realize the impracticality of this for Vegas, but if you have reason to be in the area it's worth checking out.
