SkyPass Changes (Devaluation) On Hold Indefinitely

GREAT NEWS! According to the other media reports, they'll change it again "when they are back to pre-COVID travel levels."

https://www.koreanair.com/kr/en/foot...303-newskypass

The implementation of NEW SKYPASS, which was scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2023 (after a grace period of three years and three months including prior notice), will be suspended.

The mileage accrual/deduction criteria and the elite program will be maintained without any changes.
Apart from the suspension of the NEW SKYPASS implementation, Korean Air has the following plans to make it more convenient for customers to use their mileage.
▲ Expansion of award seat supply ▲ Various mileage discount promotions ▲ Expansion of mileage usage (In-flight duty-free purchase, Jin Air, etc.)
Additionally, the Cash & Miles service for combined payment of mileage and cash will continue to run, and the U.S. Dollar will be added as a payment currency in March.

It still does not seem clear whether the redemptions - specifically partner awards - will remain unchanged.

I have accumulated KAL Skypass miles to fly DL to Hawaii - currently 25k RT. Hoping that remains unchanged...

So they'll introduce the changes a little bit at a time through the backdoor.....

Indeed great news. Seems like government pressure helped here. Don't have to rush to use all Korean miles now.

For now. I'd look for Skypass to be devalued some other way, albeit more slowly, shortly after the merger with Asiana closes (if the EU doesn't spike the deal).

According to the Korean news, industry insiders suggest KE will focus on changes with less impact on current mile holders.

This might mean changes to mileage accrual (guessing KE, partners and credit card points?) instead of the spending side.
