Malaysian compared to KLM

I have been many, many time on World Business class on KLM. (mostly on B747's-400) I will be flying C class on MH first time soon, KUL to AMS. How does MH C class compare to KLM WBC?

The seat is close, but I don't think as good as KL. It's similar to the new 767 seats - 50" pitch, 145deg recline, and 2-3-2 downstairs. Food is miles better. The lounge in KUL is lovely.

On-board service is different to KL's: more professional and consistent than KL, but less personable, I think.

Where MH shines is in Y. The Y seats and services are above any airline (OK, maybe NZ) I've been on.

MH is great... The food is excellent and the service perfect (classical Asian style).

Champagne is better than KLM (Veuve Clicquot), lounge so nice, ...

Ground staff OK. Entertainment much better than KLM.

Enjoy.

Flown in both MH and KL.

Overall - MH much better than KL. Better seats, IFE, food and service.

Asian hospitality against.. old world European.

You should be able to earn miles on KL's programme.

Just curious...what champagne does KLM serve in WBC? FYI...NW serves Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut).

Wow! I never thought KLM would be "cutting edge" in their on-board catering. Piper is only $30 a bottle! Luckily they are competing with some pretty bog standand stuff since most other carriers downgraded their C champagne to cava or spumanti.

A few years ago I used to pick up two wee bottles of Piper on each C leg bwtween AMS-DUB. Now I'm lucky if I pick up a cold

I just arrived home in AMS this morning on a MH flight from KUL.

MH was good, but I wouldn't say better than KL. The seat in C class was not as good as on KL, food was OK but nothing special. Service was good, but nothing extraordinary.

A fair assessment. In WBC on a KL 744 at least one is guaranteed a 'premium cabin' (upstairs or in the nose) without a 2-3-2 section.

A full C cabin with 50" pitch feels very crowded (AF, KE, MH, etc.) to me.

As for service, somehow MH's European routes do not seem to bring out the best in them. Domestic C and widebody F service on MH is on par with the best, however.
