Gifting Status?

Got my future brother-in-law staying over this weekend, and he's got FD Platinum - are there any current, or previous, offers enabling one to gift some sort of status to anyone with FD (ie. I have no doubt he'd gift it to me)? He earnt it the hard way, from sounds of it - actually flies & pays full whack every week btwn. nce & ams, gets upgrades to something called (from my memory) Euro Select? Says it saves him 500 euros, but all you get is a slightly better economy seat with a newspaper and a drink, instead of paying extra.

If that's what real flyers think, rather than mileage FT junkies like myself, don't hold out much hope for this programme.

If your future brother-in-law has an FD-AmEx Card (or takes an KLM-FB-AmEx Card), then he can obtain 2 additional credit cards with the same status at no extra costs. This will give you Platinum status as well. Besides this you will get the benefit that your future brother-in-law will pay your credit card bills(and get the FD/FB Miles for it)

hi eendracht,
sounds v. interesting - is there no way round it though that we have to be on his credit card bill? don't think I can ask him to do that (plus we based in the UK - he's in Eindhoven) - would be a shame as we're currently booked to fly in Y with CO for our honeymoon this summer, Plat. Status would help greatly.

Well, it's good he is based in Eindhoven, as the special credit card (with free partner cards) is only valid in The Netherlands.

Once, AmEx tried to convince me that I should take a second partner card as well, just for somebody (as Mrs Eendracht already has one). Then they could even set the limit on EUR 0.00 per month, i.e. you can't do anything with it apart from showing it to the KLM to prove your status. Perhaps an idea? Or you just never activate it - I think activating is only related to the credit card functionality. In that case, don't ever try to put your credit card in an ATM, as it might be taken then...

I have no clue when you would obtain your new card, as FD is almost over now, and new FB-AmEx cards will be sent in August. So the time factor might be a problem for you.
