I had the equivalent same change for my Gold Elite earlier this week.

I didn't note any change in the service. (Not that I ever expect much being a GE).

Which would mean KLM GE is Skyteam Elite Plus, as opposed to the CO/DL/NW Golds who only get the useless Skyteam Elite status (no lounge access, among others).

I would like to give KLM credit for providing this benefit to its GE's, where no other Skyteam member with a similarly structured FFP does.

I was wondering about this and confirm that's what it says on KLM.com newsdesk.

Do you only drop 1 level a year with FD?

Actuallly can anyone else confirm this? I don't think i will make enough flights to remain PE this year. So does that mean that i will be a GE next year?

Do we know yet what a GE will be in the new sky team ?

If we are put in the same bracket as NW and CO GE's then i think i have just taken my last ever flight with KLM. No lounge access for GE's is a joke.

*A must be laughing right now.

According to the skyteam site all NW WP GE and KL FD GE will become ST Elite plus. (PE for FD seems to have disappeared.......)

I am aware of what the NW website says, but the downgrading of their GE's is not going to go down well with us. Def. not if KL GE are not downgraded, because KL customers in Asia are in WP by force, we have no choice.....

Hoping they all use some sense when they make their decisions, otherwise I am putting 100% on CX MPC next year (lounge access after 25K miles) and *A. KE really doesnt make sense for people living in the Asia Pacific rim, so we only have NW and KL to fly in this area. (MH is not a full WP partner ).

The partner airline info listed on KLM websites lists all the elite privileges.

As far as I can see, those are the same for GE and PE for all the newly added Skyteam partners (info for CO hasn't been updated, KE was updated today, but with mistakes).

The issue IMHO isn't whether GE is Skyteam Elite Plus, but whether it will exist next year

We can probably kiss goodbye to NWA domestic upgrades too if this is the case!

Check-in desks at AMS

Checking in at AMS over the weekend I noticed that the old Economy/Business/SE/GE/PE boards behind each desk have been replaced with Economy/Business/Elite/Elite Plus boards. As far as I could see there were only a couple of Elite Plus desks, opposite the main KLM ticket desk at Departures 2.

The screens above the elite desk at CPH now say :

Europe Select
World Business Class
Elites
Baggage drop-off
Telephone/Internet check-in.

Pretty soon of all pax will be entitled to check in at the "elite" desk.

Positive point of view: All GE's will have the same benefits as PE's, as they're all Elite Plus.

Realistic point of view: All PE's will soon be downgraded to GE...

Yet another great incentive for all PE FD passengers to spend hard earned money with KLM for a second year in a row. Or does KLM have very few PE that actually spend money with them so no great loss

Exactly. Last Friday lunchtime the queues at most of the Business/Elite desks were maybe 3/4 people deep. The queue's at the Elite Plus desks were easily double that. (Probably because these desks are right opposite the main KLM ticket desk).

Well, I just received a PE (Amex) card with a 02/06 expiry although without the promised Skyteam logo. Maybe it'll become rare enough to sell on eBay!

This is how SkyTeam works ....

Flew last Sunday AMS-EWR on KL, and onwards to RDU on CO. No single KLM person in AMS could get me a seat assignment on the CO flight. The statement made was the well known "check with the transfer desk in EWR".

For "convenience reasons", you have to switch terminals in EWR ( ) when connecting on CO, so I nearly missed by connection. After I already boarded on the CO flight, the gate agent came on board and pulled me off the flight as "the flight was not paid for". I insisted to be put back on the flight, and requested that she put some investigation into it. It turned out that, according to the gate agent, KLM had "downloaded" the booking information into the CO system for both the codeshare KL number as well as the CO number. ....... When complaining about the inconvenience (not to mention the fact that all the folks on board heard about the "not paid for" statement) and asking for the possibility of an upgrade, she said that no upgrades were available. She did not even apologized for the situation. There was still one seat left in First, but after the door closed, one of the crew members who was apparently off-duty took that seat. Thanks so much for your customer first policy. I would not be making many flights if I would adopt that same policy with my customers.

It doesn't work at all yet. Tried to book AMS-ATL on KLM and then on DL from ATL to Savannah. The KLM website shows the timetable, but it can't book any of these Skyeam connections online. The KLM callcentre first suggested flights via New York, involving changing airports (!) and using NW. When they were pressed to find the DL connection, the answer came back that they couldn't issue a through ticket & with two tickets they couldnt guarantee through check-in etc etc.

Seems as if they've signed up before getting their systems properly aligned.
