Am heading off to sunnier climbs on Friday and am flying from NWI to BKK. I cannot get an award upgrade - and I have a connection to make in Bangkok. As usual the FD helpdesk comes shining through with no help what so ever and I really need to book myself into a seat around rows 9 through 12.
Only number I have is FD helpdesk - will they be able to help or will I just have to chance my arm with Internet Check in Thursday morning
.
Can you guys help me or not???????
Thanks NCFCbuff1

FD Elite Desk don't seem to be able to reserve seats any more
I just tried to book some C class seats for a long haul and the help desk said that there were only 4 seats left in row 4 (I know Johan but I like up top) of a 747 even though there were still up to 7 seats being sold for the same flight.
Then I called reservations in the UK 08705 074 074 and they were able to reserve upstairs seats. You could also try the web sites tel no. 0870 243 0541.

I don't think that's the answer (s)he was looking for.
Some suggestions:
1) try internet check-in 30 hrs prior to departure to get seat
2) if no luck, try upgrading yourself in the lounge in AMS, if not enough seats they usually send message to gate handler who will do the check.
3) if no luck try speaking to Gate handler yourself, a) for a seat in C on miles, b) for a seat in the rows you want or if all else fails c) an exit row seat, (row 9, 21, 35 on a combi, row 51 also on all passenger plane). But watch out for nasty A and K seats because escape slide is in the way).
And if that doesn't work, good luck, make sure to get an aisle seat and take plenty of walks. And try to chat up the stewardesses, maybe they'll invite you to their overhead crew bunks :-)

When I saw this it felt like someone just kicked me in the proverbials. Then I realised that would actually be me more pleasurable than Y AMS > BKK.
Take your own water, eyes shades ear plugs and heavy drugs as you will need them. Make sure you use the drugs before you get to BKK.
