To close this saga out: it ultimately took two weeks and the very kind help of another user on here to get my bag on the way.
I filed my compensation request, only one out of seven receipts was processed and file was closed.
I thought there mightve been a problem with the upload, reached out to the PSL, they had it reopened after confirming all seven receipts were uploaded and another three were ultimately processed by customer service and case was closed once more.
The remaining receipts were for rental items to replace what was in the bag while I waited and they amounted to over 2000 . I had already received the this is our last word email from CS, so I had pretty much given up on it, but kept sending follow ups to the PSL, describing everything that went wrong with this case.
And lo and behold, today I got an email that I will be reimbursed the maximum amount under the Montreal Convention. Not everything I incurred, but still more than I came to expect.
It took many emails, over two months and probably being Platinum, but Im glad its mostly resolved.
Wishful thinking, but maybe KLM will learn that sending someone to find my bag with the Airtag provided is cheaper than paying out almost 2000 in costs on a 500 ticket.

Im stuck in a similar position now. I flew through AMS on 30 Dec, my original itinerary booked with Delta was TLV>AMS>SEA, in AMS I was rebooked to fly though Edmonton to Seattle (AMS>YEG>SEA) with the last leg of flight operated by Alaska Airlines. At YEG a KLM rep said the bag didnt make the flight and theyll send it after I file a claim. When I arrived in SEA I filed a claim with Alaska and now no one seems to know what to do. Alaska says KLM needs to send the bag to YEG. When I call KLM to ask for the status they say they cant do anything only Alaska can coordinate the bag return.
I have an AirTag in the bag and it shows the bag on the tarmac or a parking area in AMS. Its moved around a bit, but has been stuck in this spot for a couple of days now.
Anyone have thoughts on how to get this moving?

My son flew on the 5th and the missing bag was delivered on the 13th. The system IDed it as "mass hold" or something - likely because of the volume (mountain) of bags sitting in AMS. I suspect it will be forwarded once they get to it and there is not much you can do.

Having just made a Schengen to non-Schengen connection in AMS of ~30 minutes from door open to door close (hard stand and A bus gates to F pier) my checked bag obviously didn't make it (as I got SMS and app notifications informing me of the same).
Trying to create a PIR on KLM's site errors out every time. Could a PIR have been created automatically? Is the PSL able to figure out why a PIR can't be created?

Reach KL support for that
No , you or the luggage handler partner at destination needs to do it
Maybe , ping them and ask

Otherwise if the interlining wasnt possible the tag wouldnt have been edited and KL would have booked you through another airline
If you plan to pass by AMS within the next few days ; you can go to lost and found and start disturbing them until someone starts to do the work
Otherwise file a complaint to the relevant authorities for breach of contract by alaskan
