Wanders boxes getting discontinued?
With the recent 'discussions' around Marcel Wanders it seems like we might finally be getting rid of our boxes on KLM flights. Thoughts? Anyone else heard about this? Any ideas on what the replacement might be? I'd think if this moves quickly they may just give us a plain white box with the KLM logo but still our little patterned tubs of paste...

I'm not sure (legally) what's allowed to be said as goggling it seems a lot has been scrubbed. Keep an eye on the news for updates.
"KLM regularly evaluates its onboard products and partnerships. At this time, the Marcel Wanders-designed tableware and food boxes are still in use. However, we continuously review our collaborations to ensure they align with our values and customer expectations. If any changes are made, we will communicate them accordingly."

I hope so and that goes for all the Wanders designed garbage. The tacky styling is very out of step with what you pay for. Itd be great if they got a nice aesthetic instead of another modern designer / their own instead of just ornate and intentionally weird

I was under the mistaken impression that Wanders was a celebrity chef.
But it turns out he is an interior designer. Someone who you pay to suggest what wallpaper to buy for your living room.

Best for KLM to just lean into the Dutchness here and make it an elevated sandwich or Indonesian food offering. The other ‘creative’ ‘culinary’ attempts at catering really do not work. Longhaul J has gotten altered in the last few years with the ‘tasting of delicacies’ Indonesian food option ex-AMS and it’s honestly solid. Catering can execute it. We know they can make a broodje kaas (cheese sandwich); making slightly nicer sandwiches (heck, partner with Stach or something) would work fine for business on lunch and breakfast.
