It's not correct.
But they do recognize all prio at all entry points. Besides, I'm fairly sure you can reach Dep 1 checkpoint upstairs from SP stairs as well, though it's a bit of a counterintuitive route. |

Yes, you can. Once at the top of the stairs ignore the Priority BP/Privium scanners on your right, just turn left and left again and you will see Priority/Privium scanners right there. You indeed need to know, it isn't obvious.

I have seen that twice in the last two weeks, personnel sending some of the SP passengers to go around to the departures 1 checkpoint to speed things up.

I've known an agent to come and ask half a dozen people waiting in the T2 priority line to follow him around the corner to the empty T1 one. That was before Schiphol's Summer of Shame, there were maybe a dozen people in line in all.
Everything else (i.e. queues) being equal, I prefer to go around the corner, because once through you can take the shortcut directly to the Privium Express Lounge (and KL's Schengen Crown Lounge #25. Ugh!) Johan |

If you take a right after Dep 2 checkpoint, don't you end up in basically the same place anyway?

Yes, when going through departure 2 security for a Schengen flight you will first pass the 'clean side' of Departure 1 security and then arrive at the area where you either go downstairs, or take the short-connections/lounge shortcut. So that works fine for both Departures 1 and 2.
When going up the SkyPriority escalator I never realised that there is a shortcut to Departures 1 security there. Thats very useful to know, thanks! Especially when the regular Departures 1 BP-scan downstairs is a mess having the long line out the door. As long as it will be possible to use the SkyPriority escalator upstairs even when not flying Skyteam that will probably be the fastest way to get to priority security. |

I think so. I could take the shortcut to the Schengen lounge this morning while i went through departure 2 security.

Well yes, as I remember it, you either go left to passport control or go right and end up going via "shortcut" and walk out near the entrance to Schengen KLM lounge.

Reporting (live) from the Aspire lounge. Arrived today Saturday around 09.30 (acc. to Schiphol Saturday is a busy but not a peak day) by train. While there were signs on the escalators to Departures that were saying you are welcome 4 hours before, nobody was checking. I was on a *A flight (Departures 1) but the regular checkpoint was only allowing in Economy pax and a checkpoint for Privium. The queue was long but not extremely long and was moving, but I would still expect 1h-1h30 to be through. So, went down to the SkyPriority desk 9 (on the back) where there is also just a Privium gate, so no other way to get in. I saw an employee, flashed my FB card and she just got me in from these not very tight gates that are supposed to be used to exit the check-in area. The queue to enter the Skypriority with luggage was kind of long but they were asking if you had a BP and then you could just go directly up to security. I am wondering if anybody could just enter by having a certain attitude...
Cleared security at Departures 2 (around 10-15 min. with a normal queue), although as the queue got longer, I saw some employees redirecting some people to a checkpoint at 1. As said before, if you fly Schengen you just move to the "right" and then you take a "left" at the "Short connections" - "lounge" secret passage. Now in the Aspire lounge which is normal-busy. |
Thanks for reporting back. So that means that, unless willing to somewhat 'illegally' use Skypriority, as a *A Priority pax you don't really have an option for priority security any more. Was there perhaps somebody at the regular Departure 1 gates that could open the privium gate for you to pass (Or allow you to jump in front of the long queue)?
While for me personally, like you, I'd probably have no issue using SkyPriority - If you behave like you belong you will be fine - it does sound like Schiphol is not accommodating for non-Skyteam premium pax.. |
Schiphol airport does cater to priority pax from each and every airline. However, in the Departures hall 2, it's only SkyPriority, as that hall is exclusively used for KL/DL/AF flights, with KLM check-in counters only.
All other airlines use Departures hall 3 for non-schengen flights. If your airline provides you with priority security due to status or flying a premium cabin, you can use the priority lanes in Departures 3. In Departures hall 1 - for Schengen flights - there is a seperate priority lane, in between Privium and the regular lanes, all the way to the left - where *A FF would fall under the "Selected frequent flyers" category. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...27ba391956.png |
Not sure if I missed it (doubt it?) but the Departures 1 just figured Economy and one Privium lane or the right.
There was indeed some employee in front of the Privium but had a queue of people to deal with so did not even bother. Also not sure what was happening upstairs because I think all gates lead to the same stairs in any case. |
