On separate tickets, and when different airlines (even one with which they have a partnership) are involved, it is unlikely.
They could do this, but airlines increasingly will not interline luggage on separate tickets.
Allow yourself sufficient time to retrieve your luggage at Amsterdam and check-in separately with Etihad, just in case.
