LH seeks JetBlue code-share
As soon as tomorrow, Lufthansa and JetBlue will file a request to code-share. We may see B6 flight numbers to Europe and LH flight numbers for flights operated by B6 in the coming months. Big news for B6!

Yep, sure did. B6 will have additional more new code-share partnership with LH. What about passengers will catch next flight out of JFK hub? I knows B6 are taking own responsibilities need to take the bags along with them to be transferred to LH will be departed flight out of JFK. I think LH should have to be moved into new terminal 5 only for departure flight. LH will be arrivals into terminal 1 to process clearance at Customs & Immigrations. The entire aircraft will have to be towed to another terminal 5.

Good for Jetblue
If it gets approved that would be good for jetblue. The next step (after B6 goes to Sabre ) would be for customers to be able to get LH miles (or whatever they call them ) (if they want) or to keep the true blue 2 points .
I suspect this may also mean that B6 customers can use the tb2 points to fly on LH . Now if they can recheck the luggage in T1 (to go directly to B6) after customs . so they do not have to lug the luggage on the airtrain .

The switchover to SABRE should be happening fairly soon and once the code share agreement is approved, it will likely be a full interline service---through checked bags, onward boarding pass issued at departure, and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits. This would give Miles and More members an incentive to connect with jetBlue and make other flights within North America on B6 when visiting. The more money jetBlue makes the more LH's investment pays off. jetBlue can be the go to carrier for LH passengers wanting to visit NYC/BOS/MCO along with the Caribbean/Florida/Central America/West Coast USA. LH also owns Swiss International Airlines and is just completing the takeover of Austrian Airlines which will potentially give jetBlue even more connecting traffic. Should be a win-win for both airlines.
Maybe jetBlue can offer a visit North America pass for Europeans/Africans/Asians coming into North America on LH.

Definitely sounds good for both airlines, but it is hard to know exactly what it will look like. Lufthansa appears to be in a very strong position for the future, as they now have two strong NYC partners in B6 at JFK and CO at EWR. Could mean an increase in capacity on those routes. I wonder how much this codeshare agreement could be used for the Boston routes, as that would be a nice alternative to JFK.

The agreement has been signed. Initially LH will put its code on flights to 12 B6 destinations and B6 will codeshare on flights operating to 180 Lufthansa destinations. LH will soon be taking delivery of the A380 and if it hopes to fly it to JFK, they need the feed. Sometime in the near future, you may be able to take a flight with a jetBlue flight number on the A380 to Europe (even if it is not on a jetBlue plane).
On LH's website there are instructions as to how to connect between the two airlines in JFK, BOS, and MCO so these will probably be the initial focus cities.

This is a good move; it is about time that LH started leveraging this partnership that they created.
It is somewhat unfortunate that it will be similar to the EI deal in that it doesn't really do much for B6 customers - no purchasing on jetblue.com, no TB points, etc. - but hopefully that gets solved with the Sabre implementation. It will also be interesting to see what they do for mileage accrual and redemption for the Miles + More program on the B6 flights.

Why would you ever expect a flight on some foreign carrier to earn you TB2 points?
