triangle

I wonder if jetblue can fly triangle roads to airports whch do not warant non-stop service? Fly jfk-alb-bdl-jfk or jfk-ict-okc-jfk or jfk-sav-csm-jfk on same plane just 3 exaples i come whith. There coold be more somebody can come whith? Then if flight fill up evry day upgrade it to biger plane and if kepp flying full give non stop route to citys in triangle?

I think this was eluded too some while ago. I don't see JetBlue operating 1 stop service to any city at this point. We need to wait and see what the software update to the 190s do for their reliability before we continue to expand their routes.

There's no strategic advantage to triangle routes today. Not only is one-stop service from a hub perceived by passengers as non-competitve -- profusely scheduled RJs have taught people to expect nonstops -- but there's almost no dedicated traffic between ALB-BDL or ICT-OKC. So you'd be inconveniencing the vast majority of pax with an unwanted ground stop.

There are a few 1 stop flight still out there, UA operates ORD-PHX-TUS (i think that is how it opperates), and several operated by Big Sky in the plains and Rockies as well as a few operated by Mesaba through the upper pennisula of Michigan.

I was on one flight about 5 or 6 years ago (I forget which UA express carrier it was) that operated FAR-FFM-MSP. If I'm not mistaken, they did label the FFM stop as a "flag" stop (being that they only stoped if the're were scheduled passangers there that day). This route doesn't run any longer due to insufficent demand at FFM. Now, every one at or near FFM either drives the hour 70 minutes to FAR or the 4 hours to MSP.

Not really very competitive markets, where if the cities didn't have tag trips they'd likely have no service at all.

Until this decade there used to be some really interesting tag routes. TW used to fly a 767 between SEA and PDX at midnight or so, and flew STL-BDL-PWM (or STL-ALB-PWM?) as well. There were probably dozens of such cases, but they're mostly gone now for efficiency/competitive reasons.

In the olden days (early to mid 90's - yikes, I'm OLD, I remember a decade ago! ) Delta used to fly an Atlanta - Albany - Portland Maine, and Bradley - Palm Beach - FLL - Bradley, and FLL-MIA-YYZ. The best part was getting 1,000 miles (yikes, I even remember when the Delta Frequent Flyer program awarded 1,000 miles per segment) for the FLL-MIA, I was a mileage who.. before this site existed, I booked FLL-MIA, MIA-ATL, ATL-whereever I was going. Ah, the days of more time than money.

Sorry, a little off-topic. I supposed jetBlue could do a JFK-Wilmington NC - Savannah - JFK. It wouldn't work in markets where other carriers fly nonstop and would match the fare but it would work in markets where there is limited service such as Wilmington NC, Savannah, and some Florida panhandle places. I think Air Tran exhausted the Florida Panhandle, if Air Tran couldn't make it work out of Atlanta jetBlue sure isn't going to make it work out of NYC.
