Timetable vs Reality

Timetable vs Reality
I'm a bit frustrated... I've tried to book SMF-CLT RT 9/16-9/19. I get an outbound option but a return isn't available. However, the timetable lists a couple of options:
Sacramento, CA (SMF) 6:00a 12:00p 1082/163 Daily connection
Effective 7/13
2:30p 11:55p 1086/171 Daily connection
Effective 7/12
I called customer service, and they indicated I would have to book separate OW flights beacuse the connection was more than four hours. I pointed out the fact that CLT-SMF was listed in the timetable, so it should be available, but it made no difference. If the flight can't be booked, it shouldn't be in the timetable...
Anyone else notice this discrepancy?
